Roger Rittmaster, M.D.
Dr. Rittmaster is an endocrinologist specializing in disorders of sex hormones. He was Professor of Medicine at Dalhousie University prior to joining GlaxoSmithKline to assist in the development of dutasteride (Avodart) for benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer risk reduction. During this time, Dr. Rittmaster was Executive Director whose responsibilities included oversight of the Avodart REDUCE trial for prostate cancer risk reduction involving over 8000 subjects. He earned a B.A. degree from Brown University, an M.D. degree from Tufts Medical School and did his endocrinology fellowship in the Developmental Endocrinology Branch of the National Institutes of Health.
